Kazakh President receives Chairman of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Türkiye reached $6 billion last year, with potential for further growth. In the near future, bilateral trade could reach $10 billion. The issues of strengthening the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Türkiye were discussed during a meeting between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus. Besides, the parties exchanged views on deepening cooperation among the OTS member states and interaction within other international organizations. The Head of State highly praised the potential of parliamentary diplomacy. On his part, Numan Kurtulmus highlighted the opportunities for expanding cooperation between the countries in trade, industry, energy, and agriculture. President Tokayev also expressed confidence that Turkish athletes would actively participate in the fifth World Nomad Games, which will be held in Astana this September.

“Today’s meeting is taking place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and has symbolic significance. I’ve recently had a telephone conversation with my counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We maintain regular contacts, and there is a fruitful dialogue between our countries. Türkiye is among Kazakhstan’s five largest trading partners and one of the ten main investors,” said the Head of State.

“Kazakhstan is the land of our ancestors, the homeland of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi – a spiritual mentor who unites the entire Turkic world. Tomorrow, in Turkistan, we will visit sacred sites and hold a conference at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University. Under your leadership, Kazakhstan is entering a new stage of development, with effective political, economic, and social reforms underway. I am confident that all of this will positively contribute to the prosperity of your country, and cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan will continue to strengthen in the future” said Kurtulmus.
