Culture and art workers were awarded at the Akorda residence. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the participants of the ceremonial event on their professional holiday, highlighting that culture is the foundation of the national identity and spirituality of the Kazakh people. According to him, large-scale transformations are currently underway in Kazakhstan, the main goal of which is to turn the country into a strong, advanced state and to create conditions for talented youth. The constitutional reform is also aligned with these objectives. President Tokayev noted that the new Basic Law contains an important provision on the preservation of historical and cultural heritage.
«Last year alone, 61 cultural facilities were built across the country, and repair works were carried out in more than 250 institutions. In 2025, three museums were granted national status by presidential decree, with this work set to continue this year as well. I consider it necessary to grant national status to the Maxim Gorky State Academic Russian Drama Theatre and the Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev State Academic Philharmonic, and to grant academic status to the Sabit Mukanov Regional Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre,» President Tokayev noted.
According to the President, special attention should be paid to the development of traditional arts, especially the poetry of zhyray, terme, and kui. To support talented cultural figures and promote their work, a new national award, Assyl Mura, will be established in Kazakhstan. The country is also carrying out extensive work to promote reading culture. Recently, the President signed a decree on the development of reading culture and the formation of a reading nation. The Government has been instructed to provide legislative support for the library and publishing sectors. In addition, the Reading Nation concept will be approved, along with the implementation of the 10 Readers of the Year national project, and the National Digital Library Platform with unified access will be launched. President Tokayev also recalled the recent international symposium on Golden Horde.
«In the first ten days of June, the III Congress of Archivists will be held, dedicated to the preservation of historical, cultural, and documentary heritage in the era of total digitalization and artificial intelligence. The comprehensive promotion of our uniquely diverse and tolerant culture is of great importance for strengthening Kazakhstan’s international standing as a progressive, peace-loving state that occupies an important place in Eurasia and advocates the creation of a system of comprehensive security in the region,» President Tokayev added.
The culture of our country is currently being actively
promoted at the global level, thanks to the outstanding works and talent of
domestic artists, musicians, and filmmakers. The Head of State described the
international music contest Silk Way Star as an example of modern cultural diplomacy. It has become one of the most
recognizable and popular media projects of our country abroad and was
implemented under an agreement between the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio
Complex and China Media Group (CMG). It showcases the diversity of Kazakh
culture and cooperation with international organizations. Our country intends
to expand the list of sites included in the UNESCO lists. At the conclusion of the event, the President presented high state awards
to talented art workers who have made a significant contribution to the
development of national culture.
