The Kazakh capital has once again become a center of
attraction for the international community. The Astana Think Tank Forum has
brought together experts, political scientists, and scholars from over 20
countries. The discussions center on the foundations of the international
system and the potential of middle powers, whose role in the world is growing, especially
in the changing global order, amid escalating unprecedented challenges, and the
diminishing authority of multilateral international institutions, as stated by
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The future of humanity depends on how
effectively countries can consolidate their efforts. In this context, middle
powers are becoming effective mediators. Kazakhstan has established itself as
one of the participants in such processes, providing a platform for the
conclusion of the nuclear deal with Iran, negotiations on Syria, and the recent
meeting between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
«We envision a more inclusive and resilient international
system. Nations, regardless of size, must be able to contribute to building a
better world. Kazakhstan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to playing a
proactive visionary role on the global stage. We stand at the intersection of
diplomacy, economic cooperation, and multilateral governance. Our influence,
when exercised collectively with our fellow partners, can profoundly shape the
world of tomorrow,» Tokayev said.
The Head of State once again spoke on the issue of resolving
the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
«We believe that seeking peaceful solutions is absolutely
essential, and we support realistic peace plans from all countries, including
China and Brazil. There is no other way. The alternative is a war of mutual
extermination. Perhaps some world powers are interested in this, but this is
the path to the abyss. The pursuit of peace through constructive dialogue is
not a sign of weakness, but a reflection of strategic wisdom and foresight,» said
Tokayev.
The President answered questions from forum participants,
where he shared his views on Kazakhstan’s role in the region and the effective
use of middle power positions.
«I think that the Central Asia is becoming very much
visible, conspicuous on the world map, and I hope that my counterparts in
Central Asia will agree. We will be doing our best in order to enhance the
capabilities of this very much important region. And speaking about the United
Nations, I strongly believe that United Nations needs to be strengthened because
it is indispensable,» Tokayev said.
The Head of State emphasized that peace and
development are the key priorities for Kazakhstan to pursue its goals. The
country is now open to cooperation and welcomes investors.
