Kazakhstan is digitizing its
healthcare system. Starting in September, an AI ‘doctor’s assistant’ will be introduced in the country to help optimize diagnostics and
minimize errors. In addition, a unified state medical information system is
being created to replace fragmented
databases and ensure transparency in the operations of hospitals and clinics. A
patient identification project using the ‘Digital Document’ and Face ID has
also been launched, which has helped reduce unnecessary medical services by 6%,
or nearly 5 billion tenge. Moreover, eight of the most in-demand types of medical
certificates have been digitized. Since the beginning of the year, over 4.7
million such documents have been registered in the information systems. The
optimization of medical information systems has reduced the workload on doctors
and nurses by up to 40%. The state also places special emphasis on healthcare
and the implementation of innovations in the sector.
«Today, Kazakhstan is among the six countries in the world where complex
transplant surgeries are conducted. A modern oncology center using proton
therapy has been opened in Kazakhstan - there are fewer than 100 such centers
worldwide. In 2024, the country introduced the innovative ‘fetal medicine’
technology for the first time, and to date, 71 intrauterine operations have
been performed, saving the lives of 96 newborns. Starting this year, pediatric
departments are being opened within primary healthcare, and so far, 100 early
development and intervention centers have been established,» noted Kazakh Minister of Healthcare
Akmaral Alnazarova.
