Kazakh government sums up work in construction field

More than 15 million square meters of new housing were commissioned in Kazakhstan in 11 months, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The construction activities amounted to six trillion tenge, as stated by the government that provided an overview of the sector’s achievements in 2023. Another accomplishment of the outgoing year is the systematic expansion of domestic production in construction materials, which grew 10 percent to one trillion tenge. Among the 41 projects launched from the approved Roadmap until 2027 are a lime production plant, and an enterprise for manufacturing asphalt concrete, roofing and facing material. The Abai region has seen the restoration and modernization of a cement plant, while the Zhetisu region witnessed the expansion of ceramic tile production. The commissioning of three more projects is expected in Shymkent soon. The share of domestic producers in the total volume of construction material purchases has increased to 66 percent, which indicates the strengthening of their position in the domestic market, according to the government.
