Kazakh filmmaker’s movie wins top prize at film festival in Brussels

Kazakhstan’s film industry has reached another significant milestone. The movie ‘Dala Kaskyry’ (Steppenwolf) by Kazakh filmmaker Adilkhan Yerzhanov won the top prize, the Golden Raven Award, at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), one of Europe’s most renowned genre film festivals. The film's plot centers around the main character, who, along with a former investigator, searches for her kidnapped son. Notably, the filming took place in the Almaty and Zhetisu regions. The world premiere of ‘Dala Kaskyry’ was held in Rotterdam, and the film also received an award at the Reims Polar Film Festival in France.
