The Kazakh film entitled ‘Bauryna salu’
was selected for the competition at the 71st edition of the San Sebastian International
Film Festival in Spain. The movie by debut director Askhat Kuchinchirekov tells
the story of a boy raised by his grandmother. After her passing, he has to return
to his parents, whom he barely knows, in a new environment. Work on the film,
which was shot in the Almaty region, lasted three years. It should be noted
that the San Sebastian festival, one of the oldest ones, will be held from 22
to 30 September. It is the most important competition in the Spanish-speaking
world and the fourth major one in Europe after Cannes, Berlin and Venice film
festivals.
