Over
$13 billion has been attracted to Kazakhstan’s economy through the Astana
International Financial Centre (AIFC). This includes $6 billion in portfolio
investments on the Astana International Exchange (AIX) and over $7 billion in
investments from companies participating in the financial centre. The AIFC
Governor informed Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Armenian
counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan about this. Currently, more than 3,000 companies
from over 80 countries operate within the AIFC, including six major financial
organizations from Armenia. The Heads of State were also briefed on the AIFC’s
judicial system, the activities of the AIFC Court and the International
Arbitration Centre, as well as the operations of the Astana Financial Services
Authority (AFSA). Notably, there is a Memorandum of Understanding between the
AFSA and the Central Bank of Armenia regarding banking and insurance
regulation.
