Kazakh Interior Minister Marat Akhmetzhanov reported to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the preparation of the law ‘On combating human trafficking’. Akhmetzhanov also mentioned changing approaches to combating organized crime. From now on, an emphasis is placed on the elimination of causes and sources of funding. Akhmetzhanov stressed that the ministry is developing a comprehensive plan to combat drug addiction and drug trafficking for a three-year period. It also takes measures to strengthen accountability for domestic violence. Following the meeting, the Kazakh President set a number of tasks on ensuring citizens’ security and public order in the state.
