Transition to green technologies is underway. Kazakhstan actively implements renewable energy projects. The largest electric power holding in the country, ‘Samruk-Energy’ makes a great contribution to this. This involves the construction of two wind farms in Almaty and Akmola regions.
“There is the first wind power plant with a capacity of 45 megawatt in Yereymentau, which has been successfully operating for already eight years. We are also building a wind power station in Yereymentau with a capacity of 50 megawatt, and a 60 megawatt plant with a potential to develop up to 300 megawatt in the area of Shelek town called ‘The Energy of Semirechye’,” said Serik Tyutebayev, Managing Director for Production and Asset Management of Samruk-Energy JSC.
Experts estimate that launching such stations will reduce harmful emissions to the atmosphere. Other equally important projects by ‘Samruk-Energy’ have also achieved a significant effect on reducing the negative environmental impacts.
“Together with KazTransGas, we want to switch Almaty power plant-2 to gas. This will reduce emissions from Almaty power plant-2 to the lowest possible figure by nearly 83 percent. In the future, on the instruction of the President, the Almaty power plant-3 will most likely also be switched to gas with the installment of ultramodern equipment,” said Serik Tyutebayev, Managing Director for Production and Asset Management of Samruk-Energy JSC.
This year, the ‘Samruk-Energy’ JSC holding managed not only to support the transition of domestic power engineers to a green economy, but also to maintain the same growth rate in electricity generation.
