How was the 150th anniversary of Abai celebrated in 1995?

In 1995, the 150th birth anniversary of the outstanding poet Abai Kunanbai-uly was celebrated in Kazakhstan and abroad. Under the auspices of UNESCO only round number anniversaries are celebrated. But with the idea of supporting a young sovereign state, an exception was made.
