Harvesting campaign continues in Kazakhstan

Farmers in Kazakhstan will harvest more than 15 million tonnes of crops this year, said Kazakhstan’s Acting Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev at the Government’s meeting. According to him, despite the drought in some regions, the expected grain volumes will fully meet the domestic needs and fulfill export plans. In addition, as the head of the relevant department informed, Kazakhstan has a reserve stock of grain of almost 450,000 tonnes. So, there is no need to worry about food security, they assured during the meeting. The harvesting campaign is well underway in the country today. The regions have already harvested 1.5 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops.

“1.5 million tons of grain were harvested with an average yield of 10.0 centners per hectare. For information: 37.5 percent more was harvested in 2020, with an average yield of 14.9 centners per hectare. The main grain-sowing regions will start mass harvesting from the third decade of this month. There are 141,000 tractors, 73,500 tractor trailers, 36,900 grain harvesters, 12,800 headers for harvesting operations in the country,” Karashukeyev said.
