In Kazakhstan, five people bear the rare and unusual name
Atom. The youngest is just three years old, while the oldest is 66. These
residents live in the Akmola and Kostanai regions, as well as in the cities of
Almaty and Astana. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, there are
also names that include the root «Atom»: two people named Atomzhan, six
Atombek, two Atomvek, and one Atomtai. The majority of them are adults.
«Notably, 80 percent of people with these names
are over the age of 47, highlighting a connection to an older generation, in
which these names may have been more popular,» said Zhazira Maratkyzy, Press
Secretary of the Bureau of National Statistics.
