First Deputy Prime Minister of
Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar went on a working trip to the Pavlodar region to
inspect the preparations for the upcoming heating season and the progress of
repair works at heat supply sources in Ekibastuz. He was briefed on the
expansion and reconstruction project at the coal-fired thermal power station
GRES-2, which involves establishing power units No. 3 and No. 4. This will allow
to increase the station’s 1,000-megawatt installed capacity and additionally
produce around seven billion kilowatt-hours per year. Next, Sklyar reviewed
operations at another coal-fired thermal power station, GRES-1, where plans are
underway to boost capacity to 4,000 megawatts. The work is proceeding as
scheduled. Also, he was presented with an innovative project at the Bogatyr
coal mine and briefed on the reconstruction of major heating mains in the city.
Sklyar emphasized that all repair work must be carried out with high quality
and on time. Furthermore, he was informed about the progress in housing
construction. In 2023, three multi-storey residential buildings were
commissioned in Ekibastuz. Over the past four years, more than 20 such houses
have been built, with three more currently under construction due to private
investments. Projects for the construction of seven five-storey houses have
been prepared.
