Irreparable loss in television circles – a famous Kazakh journalist Nurtileu Imangaliuly passed away at the age of 70. A long-time presenter, who won the hearts of millions of Kazakhs, devoted 45 years of his life to journalism. Today, the legendary creator is fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues, who unanimously say: ‘He was a true legend!’
“There’s a whole bunch of famous TV journalists who call Nurtileu Imangaliuly their teacher. I count myself among them. Although from the outside he seemed quite strict, at heart he was a very kind and merciful man,” shared Zein Alipbek, News Anchor at the Khabar TV Channel.
Imangaliuly was born on May 1, 1952 in the Aksu district of Almaty region. He went from being an ordinary journalist to holding leading positions in various organizations. He was the author of such popular TV projects as ‘Zhastar Dauysy’, ‘Arai’, ‘Betpe-Bet’, ‘Zan Soilesin’, ‘Nur-Tiley’. As for the Khabar Agency, in different years he worked there as a commentator, editor-in-chief, deputy director and host. He also held positions in the Government, Presidential Office, and chaired the Qazaqstan Radio and Television Corporation.
“As far as I remember, there was no one in the history of Kazakh television who would be so devoted to his work as Nurtileu Imangaliuly. During his lifetime, he used to say that television is the air he breathes. He always said that he couldn’t live without this special atmosphere that you fell in TV studios. He was so enthusiastic about each of his projects, and I never noticed any indifference to his work on his part. He knew how to pave the way to the hearts of his beloved viewers,” said Amangeldi Seitkhan, a journalist and sports commentator.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a telegram with condolences to the family of the veteran journalist. ‘Nurtileu Imangaliuly left his mark on the television industry. He worked fruitfully for many years and made a significant contribution to the development of the spiritual and cultural wealth of our nation. May his soul rest in peace!’ the telegram says.
