Kazakhstan is now in the green zone in terms of the COVID-19 spread rate, the country’s Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced at a government meeting. The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country continues to improve, he said. Thus, only Nur-Sultan remains in a high-risk ‘red’ zone in terms of the infection rate. As for new positive cases of infection, their number has decreased by 16% over the past week. The virus reproductive rate is now 0.9. The occupancy rate of hospital and ICU beds is also decreasing. Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin instructed to take additional measures. Thus, the Mayor’s Office of Nur-Sultan was instructed to focus on implementation of sanitary and epidemiological measures and to the vaccination of the population.
“Mask regime should be maintained, especially indoors. Monitoring groups need to intensify their work. As we know, our neighbors in the region are seeing rising infection rates, so it is necessary to take additional preventive measures. First of all, it is the expansion of vaccination coverage. Daily vaccinations should be increased,” said Askar Mamin, Kazakh Prime Minister.
Mamin also instructed to continue the active implementation of the ‘Ashyq’ application, as well as stimulating the population to vaccinate.
