Emergencies Minister proposes introducing electronic coordination of tourist routes in mountainous areas

Tourists in Almaty may be required to coordinate mountain routes with the rescuers. Kazakh Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin was the initiator of such a proposal. The minister noted that due to the climatic conditions, Almaty region is prone to various natural disasters. In particular, he mentioned the cases of avalanches in the mountainous terrain of Almaty.

“We want to initiate legislative developments that will oblige all tourist groups taking the route to coordinate and report to the Department for Emergency Situations of Almaty city. Given the creation of a front office for tourism development, we need to launch an electronic version of the registration of tourist routes with the national operational rescue team as soon as possible to track how groups move,” Ilyin said.
