A cotton and textile cluster is set to be established in
Kazakhstan's Turkistan region, known for its cotton cultivation. The investment
project is estimated to cost 200 billion tenge. A major Chinese agricultural
company plans to invest in creating a complex with a full production cycle,
from cotton farming to the production of finished textile products. A total of
10 factories are set to be built at the complex, including four for cotton processing,
two for drip irrigation system production, and four textile mills. The project
aims to promote agricultural development in the region, enhance the country's
export potential, and support local farmers.
«It is planned to sow 32,000 hectares of cotton in this area
this year. A cotton field will also be planted using water-saving technologies,
utilizing the latest innovations. This initiative began last year and has
proven to be effective,» said Alibek Plalov, Deputy Head of the Agriculture Department
of Turkistan Region.
