A major transport and logistics
cluster is set to be established at the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, as outlined
in the comprehensive plan for developing maritime infrastructure for 2024-2028.
As noted by the Kazakh Ministry of Transport, its implementation will boost
container capacity, expand cargo handling terminals and international transport
logistics, as well as reduce administrative barriers.
“According to the document, dredging operations
in the water area of Kuryk port and the construction of a container hub in
Aktau port will commence this year. The main share of the projects will
be funded by private investments, including those envisaged for the development
of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Thus, there are plans to
increase the capacity of ports by 50 percent by 2028, as well as triple container
throughput,” said Lyazzat Stamgaziyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of
Transport.
