On the sidelines of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026, Silk Way TV spoke with Kamal Kishore, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). He noted strong progress in Central Asia on strengthening disaster risk reduction and early warning systems, calling it part of the UN's global «Early Warnings for All» initiative, which aims to ensure universal coverage by 2027. Kamal Kishore highlighted ongoing projects in the region, including work in Tajikistan, as well as coordination through the UNDRR regional office in Almaty, which supports broader cooperation across Central Asia. «There is a lot of momentum here», he said, emphasizing the importance of regional efforts to build more resilient and better-prepared communities.
