Airport construction begins at Kazakhstan’s Zaisan resort

The construction of a new airport has begun in Zaisan. The air harbor will be located on the site of a former military airfield near the village of Satpai, 25 km from the city. Its total area, including the necessary infrastructure, will cover 184.5 hectares. The airport will feature a runway over two kilometers long, with the potential for expansion, allowing it to accommodate regional-class aircraft. Discussions are currently underway regarding the purchase of the first ATR-72 aircraft. There are plans to launch flights to China, as well as domestic routes to Astana, Almaty, and Oskemen. Additionally, to boost tourism in the region, five railway stations are set to be renovated.
