Popular mountain routes in Almaty will be added to mapping platforms. Digitization is part of a large-scale plan to develop the mountain cluster. The plan includes the construction of new cable cars connecting Big Almaty Lake, Sukhoi Log, and other key locations. Additionally, modern hotels, glamping areas, and an improved transportation network will be developed.

«We plan to digitize mountain hiking routes and integrate them into mapping platforms such as 2GIS and Yandex Maps. The Big Almaty Gorge is set to become a center for ski sports and outdoor activities, while the Small Almaty Gorge will be developed as a destination for mountain, eco, and cultural tourism. The plan also includes improving ecological trails, installing navigation systems, and creating comfortable conditions for visitors,» said Aibol Muratkhan, chief manager of the department at the Almaty Tourism Department.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan is actively expanding its air connectivity with other countries. Plans are in place to launch direct flights from Almaty to Frankfurt, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Mumbai, New York, and Tokyo. This initiative aims to triple the number of foreign tourists visiting the Almaty cluster, bringing the total to 1.8 million per year. The economic impact is expected to be significant, with tax revenues projected to nearly double from 90 billion to 184 billion tenge. In total, 655 billion tenge is planned to be allocated for tourism development in Almaty.
