Two war veterans live in Kyzylorda region

Every year, there are fewer and fewer war veterans left in Kazakhstan. Over 150,000 people from the Kyzylorda region were called up to the front. Currently, only two witnesses of the war remain in the region. One of them is Yakhiya Tassyrov, who turned 103 this year. He is energetic and strong in spirit. He vividly recalls the frontline battles. Tassyrov was called up to the army in 1941 and took part in the liberation of Stalingrad, Kursk, and other cities.

«I have lived a long life and safely survived all hardships, including the war. I stayed alive because I followed orders carefully,» Tassyrov said.

Tleubergen Tobabergenov is the second veteran from the Kyzylorda region. He went to war at the age of 18 and served in the 291st rifle regiment. The frontline soldier participated in the liberation of Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Königsberg, marking Victory Day in Berlin. He was wounded twice and returned home as a war hero. His bravery, dedication, and courage serve as an example to the younger generation. This year, the veteran turned 101.

«During the battle in the city of Königsberg in 1943, a bomb fragment struck his shoulder blade, leaving a dent. He spent six months in the hospital before returning to the front,» said Maral Tuzbayeva, the veteran’s daughter.
