The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached over $1 billion in the first three months of 2023, which is a five percent increase compared to the last year, Finprom.kz website reports. Most of the turnover came from Kazakhstan’s exports. Since the start of the year, the volume of supplies has grown to $821 million, and imports to nearly $249 million. In the first quarter of this year, Kazakhstan has exported mostly wheat and meslin to Uzbekistan, as well as fertilizers, stainless steel rolled products, flour, fats and oils. The country has imported knitwear, spare parts for vehicles, refrigerators and freezers from the neighboring country. As for the gross inflow of direct investment from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, it amounted to over $42 million in 2022.
