Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Khabar Agency commented on the scandalous statements of Russian politicians against Kazakhstan, calling them “doubtful and somewhere provocative”. The head of the Russian department for foreign affairs said that such statements have never been and will never be said by those who define the policy of Russia related to Kazakhstan.
“I think that you will agree that today Kazakhstan is one of the most friendly and strategic partners for Russia. However, sometimes Russian politicians say provocative things. Could you please comment on the purpose of it?” asked the minister Yerlan Bekhozhin, Chairperson of Khabar Agency.
“Politicians build their careers in different ways. Some politicians are chasing some kind of sensation. Others believe that if they raise questions in aggravated way that look quite controversial, then they will attract attention, so that they will not be forgotten. You know what they say in our country: “it does not matter good or bad, the main thing is to make them write about you in newspapers”. Perhaps, because of this. We are developing allied relations based on those documents, which are agreed upon and signed by the heads of the states, approved by the parliaments and are law, the part of international law,” Lavrov replied.
