The tulip blooming season in the
south of Kazakhstan has become another attraction for foreign tourists. They
specially visit the Turkistan, Zhambyl, and Kyzylorda regions to see the
flowers in bloom. There are 35 species of these flowers in the country, 18 of
which are listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Data Book. Notably, the majority of these
species are wild. Kaufmann’s, Regel’s, and Greig’s tulips are widespread in
southern Kazakhstan. The latter species rightfully bears the title of the king
of tulips. It is a low flower with a bright bud, which opens in early April and
blooms almost until June.
“My acquaintances and friends are coming here
from other cities to see tulips in bloom, including from Astana and Almaty. Today,
I have come here alone to explore the route and find out how to get here using
geolocation that my friends shared. I really like it,” said Shymkent resident
Almas Tolykbayev.
