Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
arrived for a working visit in Almaty, where he previewed the new international
terminal of the airport ahead of its opening. The Head of State was informed
that the facility, built to international standards, covers a total area of
53,500 square meters and has a capacity of 14 million passengers annually.
President of Almaty International Airport Alp Er Tunga Ersoy highlighted that
the terminal meets fire and seismic safety requirements and can withstand up to
10-magnitude earthquakes. President Tokayev was also presented with the
check-in areas, border and customs control zones, and baggage compartments. The
new terminal is the first in Central Asia to be certified to the EDGE standard.
It features 50 check-in counters, the latest equipment, and full accessibility
for people with disabilities. Next, the President toured the new VIP terminal.
Following his visit, the Head of State expressed gratitude to the construction
company and all involved in implementing the strategic project. Additionally,
President Tokayev met with scientists in Almaty. In his speech, the Head of
State emphasized the need to develop and improve fields such as science and
education. He stated that the country requires young scientists, engineers, and
inventors. According to the President, it is necessary to accelerate the
widespread implementation of artificial intelligence technologies and create an
ecosystem to transform Kazakhstan into one of the largest digital hubs in
Eurasia.
