The number of highest-grossing
movies in the Kazakh language will be gradually increased up to 30 percent of
the total distribution in domestic cinemas over the next few years. The figure
should also grow due to the dubbing of popular foreign films in Kazakh, according
to the country’s Ministry of Culture and Sports. It bears noting that the rules
for selecting films for dubbing were approved in March this year.
“Three highly anticipated movies dubbed
in the Kazakh language premiered with the support of the Kazakh Ministry of
Culture and Sports last year. This year, a seven-year concept for the
development of the cultural sphere was devised and approved by the government
decree. Now we aim to have at least 15 movies dubbed in Kazakh every year, using
funds allocated from the national budget,” said Askhat Oralov, Kazakh Minister
of Culture and Sports.
