The number of domestic tourists
in Kazakhstan will increase to 11 million people by 2030, according to the
Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports. The ministry noted that apart from
Kazakh citizens who prefer to spend their vacations at home, the beauty of the
Great Steppe attracts guests from abroad as well. The study showed that tourist
flow to the country has increased by 11 percent since the beginning of the
year. Travelers mostly come from Russia, Turkey, Thailand, Uzbekistan, the
United Arab Emirates, and Georgia. Overall, up to four million foreign visitors
are expected to come to the country by 2030, experts say.
“According to the Bureau of
National Statistics, in the first quarter of 2023, accommodation facilities served
1,348,000 domestic tourists and 228,000 foreign travelers. By the end of the
year, the number of domestic tourists is expected to reach nine million people,
while foreign nationals - 1.4 million people. The most visited destinations in
the first quarter of this year are the cities of Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent,
as well as the Atyrau region,” said Akmaral Menlibek, spokesperson for the
Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports.
