In just three days after the launch of QazVac vaccine rollout, Kazakhstan has already vaccinated about 9,000 people with its domestic drug, Chairperson of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee Aizhan Yesmagambetova announced. The sooner herd immunity is achieved, the sooner citizens can go back to normal, she said. To do that, 60 percent of the population needs to be vaccinated. With the release of the domestic vaccine, Kazakh citizens are now offered a choice of COVID-19 vaccines.
“In general, there are two important characteristics when talking about vaccine manufacturing, which are safety and efficacy, while the production mechanism itself may differ. For example, there is an inactivated vaccine, and there is a subunit vaccine, so different vaccines are created in different ways. It is safe to say that the vaccines used in our country are safe and effective,” said Aizhan Yesmagambetova, Chairwoman of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee.
