Kazakhstan to introduce changes in high school graduation exam rules for 2024

The rules for the high school graduation exam will undergo certain changes in Kazakhstan. They were designed to enhance accessibility to higher education. Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek shared details about the high school graduation exam novelties in his Telegram account. Thus, in 2024, there will be adjustments to the number of test questions. There will be a reduction of five questions in the compulsory subjects of Reading Literacy and Math Literacy, while the number of questions in elective subjects will increase to 40. Testing time will also be shortened by 30 minutes. Additionally, those pursuing creative disciplines will be required to take the math literacy exam. It bears noting that next year applicants will have the opportunity to take the test up to five times.
