Kazakhstan is set to export 12 million tonnes of grain this
year, with around 7.5 million tonnes of that being wheat. The country will
continue shipments to Central Asian states and Afghanistan, totaling over four
million tonnes. The Kazakh government summarized the results of the harvesting
campaign, reporting a record harvest of 26.5 million tonnes of grain from more
than 23 million hectares of agricultural land. Relevant authorities are now
expected to ensure the supply of products to both traditional and new markets.
Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev stated that the country
has the opportunity to increase wheat exports to Asia and China to 1.6 million
tonnes. Last year, grain shipments to China surged 15-fold, exceeding 538,000
tonnes. Kazakhstan is also exploring other export opportunities alongside
European markets, including Italy, Latvia, and Spain.
«The export potential to Türkiye and Middle Eastern
countries is nearly one million tonnes of wheat. It is important to restore
supplies to the Iranian market, and we are currently seeing positive trends in
barley. Issues related to trade financing and logistics will be worked out.
Efforts will be intensified to promote Kazakh wheat in new markets, such as
Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia, where imports are expected to
increase,» said Torebayev.
