Kazakhstan is set to introduce QR
codes at the border for foreign tourists. With these codes, travelers will
obtain information about guides, taxi fares, electronic SIM cards, and also
learn handy phrases in the Kazakh language. The agenda of today’s government
meeting included a digital platform that will rank regions based on their
appeal to tourists. The platform, set to be developed next year, will consider such
factors as user-friendly navigation, accessible internet, and the convenience
of purchasing tickets to various attractions. The creation of a unified database
of qualified guides and tour guides will continue. It is also proposed to advance
agro, eco and cultural tourism in the country. In general, it is planned to
approve roadmaps for the development of 20 priority tourist areas.
“It is necessary to ensure an
active information campaign about Kazakhstan’s tourism potential abroad. The Ministry
of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and
Aerospace Industry should approve an action plan for the digitalization of the
tourism industry and the enhancement of service quality. It is also important
to focus on the full cycle of digitalization, simplifying the foreign tourists’
journey from their arrival to departure, and the entire range of services for
domestic tourism,” said Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.
This year, the number of tourists
in Kazakhstan has doubled. The government expects even greater figures, thanks
to the country’s openness on the international front. To date, citizens of 80
countries can visit Kazakhstan without a visa, while residents of another 109 states
are eligible for electronic visas.
