Kazakhstan implements industrial projects for seven trillion tenge

A total of 15 major innovative industrial projects are under implementation in Kazakhstan, some of them have already been launched, while preparatory work is underway for others, including the hot-briquetted iron production. The plant, with a capacity of two million tonnes, will provide deep processing of raw materials and supply domestic steel mills with necessary materials. There are also plans to launch an electro-metallurgical plant, which will produce special-purpose steel for railway engineering companies. Another project is a copper smelting plant that envisages complete processing of raw materials up to copper cathode. The products will be exported to China. Besides, an import-substituting project for the production of passenger wagons is slated to be launched together with a Swiss company. The implementation of all production facilities will be carried out at the expense of foreign investments as well as loans from international financial organizations, and will amount to seven trillion tenge, according to the relevant ministry. All projects are designed to form the basis of the country’s industrial framework.
