Kazakhstan increased wheat
exports to China by 66 percent, with 254,000 tonnes of grain shipped in the
first five months of 2024 alone. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Italy and Afghanistan
are also stepping up their imports of Kazakh agricultural products. Overall,
Kazakhstan exported 2.6 million tonnes of wheat from January to May. To meet
the growing demand, comprehensive measures are being taken to expand grain
storage facilities and build new ones. Thus, it is planned to put into
operation five granaries, each with a capacity of over 30,000 tonnes, in
2024-2026. Currently, Kazakhstan has six million tonnes of grain reserves, of
which five million tonnes is wheat.
