Kazakhstan enters heightened state of readiness for flood period

Kazakh Minister for Emergency Situations Syrym Sharipkhanov announced the necessity to enter a heightened state of readiness for the flood period at the Government’s meeting. According to him, above-average precipitation and temperatures are expected in January and February across most regions of the country. The area covered with snow currently reaches up to 70 percent in five regions, and 90 percent in 12 regions of Kazakhstan. Sharipkhanov stated that special task forces, involving 39,000 personnel, have already been formed. Furthermore, around 11,000 units of equipment, over 500 swimming vehicles, and more than 3,000 motor pumps have been prepared. Sharipkhanov assured that the relevant services are already in a state of readiness.¤

“Kazaviaspas aircraft are in constant readiness for the swift deployment of forces and equipment, as well as the emergency evacuation of affected populations. Military units of civil defense are also ready to participate in rescue operations. The practical training of the actions of management bodies, forces, and resources of the civil defense system will be carried out as part of the National command and staff exercise ‘Koktem-2024’, with the headquarters located in Aktobe,” said Sharipkhanov.
