Kazakh researchers will now be able to digitize a collection
of rare books and manuscripts housed at Harvard University. Access to the
library’s resources and archives was made possible through a memorandum signed
between the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Davis
Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.
«The main goal is to compile a catalog of Kazakh manuscripts
and introduce the oldest among them into international academic circulation.
Harvard is providing methodological support, preparing educational materials,
and conducting restoration and conservation work. Plans are also underway to
create a digital portal and database utilizing artificial intelligence
technologies,» said Ular Mukazhanov, General Director of the Republican State
Enterprise «Gylym Ordasy.»
In addition, the memorandum enables the organization of
academic exchanges, including scholarships and research internships. It also
supports research projects and publications, contributing to the in-depth study
of Kazakhstan’s history and culture.
