Kazakhstan’s tool for educational
achievement monitoring of students has passed international accreditation, as
reported by the Ministry of Education. According to its data, the country
successfully completed seven stages of accreditation over two years. These
stages included the development of an assessment framework, creation of test
questions, test design, sampling of test tasks, administration of testing on a
digital platform, scaling, and analysis of results. Overall, the monitoring assesses
three literacy areas, including reading, mathematics, and natural sciences. As
noted by the ministry, all stages and procedures of the educational achievement
monitoring of students comply with widely accepted, scientifically grounded
approaches, which are also used in studies such as PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS.
«Over two years of collaboration with the international
research center for expertise and certification, test tasks have been enhanced
using advanced assessment methods. The administration process and the
educational achievement monitoring procedure have been standardized and
received a corresponding quality mark. Successfully completing accreditation
elevates the current education quality assessment system to a significantly
higher level and could serve as a foundation for joint projects in the Central
Asian region,» noted Dinara Abylkanova, head
of department at the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Sphere of Education,
the Kazakh Ministry of Education.
