Kazakh President receives Chairman of Anti-Corruption Agency

About 860 billion tenge has been returned to the state budget and quasi-public sector entities in Kazakhstan over the course of a year and a half. Anti-Corruption Agency Chairman Askhat Zhumagali reported to the Kazakh President on measures taken to combat corruption, noting that the agency’s primary focus is on eliminating corruption preconditions. The implementation of the ‘Make Way for Business’ project removed administrative barriers that hinder the development of entrepreneurship. Thus, over 400 problematic cases were resolved, and more than 21,000 business representatives received assistance. During the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also informed about the identified risks related to imperfect mechanisms for the formation of budget requests, the lack of centralized employee records, and the integration of accounting systems with the Treasury databases. These issues have resulted in significant misappropriation of funds in the education sector. The Head of State emphasized the importance of preventing corruption in the industry, as well as the need to digitalize processes.
