About 860 billion
tenge has been returned to the state budget and quasi-public sector entities in
Kazakhstan over the course of a year and a half. Anti-Corruption Agency
Chairman Askhat Zhumagali reported to the Kazakh President on measures taken to
combat corruption, noting that the agency’s primary focus is on eliminating
corruption preconditions. The implementation of the ‘Make Way for Business’
project removed administrative barriers that hinder the development of
entrepreneurship. Thus, over 400 problematic cases were resolved, and more than
21,000 business representatives received assistance. During the meeting,
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also informed about the identified risks related to
imperfect mechanisms for the formation of budget requests, the lack of
centralized employee records, and the integration of accounting systems with
the Treasury databases. These issues have resulted in significant
misappropriation of funds in the education sector. The Head of State emphasized
the importance of preventing corruption in the industry, as well as the need to
digitalize processes.
