Kazakh President arrives in Pakistan for state visit

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Pakistan on a state visit. The Kazakh President’s aircraft was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets while in the country’s airspace. At Islamabad International Airport, the Head of State was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A guard of honor was lined up and ceremonial artillery salutes were fired in honor of the distinguished guest. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also greeted by a group of children holding the flags of Kazakhstan and Pakistan. Tomorrow, the sides are expected to discuss prospects for strengthening political, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
