The movie «Dala Kaskyry»
(Steppenwolf) by Kazakh filmmaker Adilkhan Yerzhanov received high recognition at
the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada. Berik Aitzhanov and Anna
Starchenko were recognized as best actors for their lead roles in the film and received
high marks from the jury for their skills and deep understanding of the
characters. The movie tells the story of a woman searching for her kidnapped son
who disappeared during unrest in a small town. She hires a former investigator to
help with the search, which leads to unexpected consequences. The film had
previously won the prize of the French Critics’ Association. Notably, the
number of Kazakh films receiving recognition at international film festivals is
growing.
