President of Kazakhstan signed a decree on renaming the city of Kapshagai to Konayev. The text was published on the Akorda website. In his address to the nation back in mid-March, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced his readiness to join the proposal to rename the city if the residents will put it forward. Later, the proposal was supported by members of the representative body.
