Joint investment projects with Saudi Arabia discussed in Kazakh government

There are plans to start construction of a new RES facility, namely a 1-gigawatt large wind power plant, at the expense of Arab investments in the Zhetisu region in 2025. The parties are now negotiating on the project. At the government meeting, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov instructed to intensify the coordination of procedures for all joint investment projects with Saudi Arabia, particularly, in the spheres of agriculture, pharmaceuticals and metallurgy. Domestic diplomats, the diplomatic mission of Kazakhstan in Jeddah, the Kazakh Invest national company and other interested state agencies and organizations should conduct more active work, including a more thorough study of the pool of potential projects, according to Smailov. Besides, the Prime Minister instructed to organize a thematic business forum with the participation of entrepreneurs of the two countries ahead of the next meeting of the Kazakh-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission.
