Five regions of Kazakhstan are at risk of flooding during floods season. As noted by Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin, these are Akmola, Karagandy, Kostanai, East and North Kazakhstan regions. In general, there are 285 flood-prone settlements in the country, about 300 roads and more than 600 railways. Today, according to experts, the country's large reservoirs are 60-70 percent full. 25 unattended hydraulic structures give rise to concern. Their number is growing, the minister stressed. Last year, there were 10 of them in Kazakhstan. This year, there are plans to restore six reservoirs, the remaining 19 will be repaired in the next three years. According to weather forecasters, in March, the air temperature will be two degrees above normal.
