The feature-length documentary, titled “Joshy Khan. The
Ruler of the Great Ulus,” premiered in Astana. The film, created by renowned
journalist and producer Maya Bekbayeva, was released with the support of the TV
and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President. It explores the era of Joshy Khan, the
eldest son of Genghis Khan and the founder of the Golden Horde. The premiere
captivated audiences, who noted that the film restores historical justice by highlighting
Joshy Khan’s key role in the formation of Kazakh statehood.
«Showcasing Joshy Khan’s role and historical significance
through the lens of modern youth is incredibly important. Maya has succeeded in
this endeavor, and we wish her the best of luck!» said theater and film
director Talgat Temenov.
«It is not just an art project but also a historical and
educational initiative. Great! One could say that it is a remarkable way to present
history to the current generation in a clear and accessible manner,» said blogger
Syrym Itkulov.
The script development took over six months and involved
multiple consultations with historians. Filming lasted about a month and took
place in Astana and its surrounding areas. Starting March 20, the film about
Joshy Khan will be shown in cinemas across the country.
