The world’s top
medical professionals will gather in Astana for the Global Conference on
Primary Health Care on October 22-23. The event will be dedicated to the fifth
anniversary of the Astana Declaration and the 45th anniversary of the Alma-Ata
Declaration, as announced by Kazakh Health Minister Azhar Giniyat. She
highlighted that the conference will be attended by WHO and UNICEF leadership,
as well as delegations from around 80 WHO member states. According to Giniyat,
this will help Kazakhstan in adopting the best global practices in the
healthcare sector.
“Since last year,
there has been active implementation of WHO-approved projects of best primary
health care practices based on the ‘Patient-Centered Approach’. In 2023, these
practices are being applied in 48 primary health care organizations throughout
the country, both in urban and rural areas,” Giniyat said.
The minister also
highlighted a significant increase in funding for outpatient care in the
country. Thus, over the past three years, consultative and diagnostic
assistance has increased sevenfold, and the availability of MRI scans has
increased sixfold. By the end of 2025, a total of 655 primary health care
facilities will be built in rural areas.
