Astana is currently
hosting the 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe. Kazakhstan
is the first country in its region to host such an event on its territory, with
more than 50 experts from across the globe participating. They are engaged in
discussions on strengthening healthcare systems in the EU countries. In
particular, this year’s session is devoted to such issues as advanced training
for healthcare professionals, epidemic preparedness, pandemic response, and
antimicrobial resistance.
“The fourth agenda
point is action plan on migrant health, because we should not forget that 36
percent of the global migrants is in whole European region. And this is not
European, it is global. So, we need an action plan how to deal with the health
of the migrants,” said Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe.
