2022 state-of-the-nation address: opinions of diplomatic corps

Members of foreign diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan commend the country’s ambition to increase transit potential and support business. The diplomats stressed that the measures aimed at modernizing the social and economic policy, mentioned in the address of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, are crucial.

“EU and EU member states have been the biggest investors for Kazakhstan. It is important. We would like to continue that good practice. I hope what businesses always emphasize good investment conditions, transparency, fairness of the legislative processes, ability to defend its interests when needed. We just recently had several meetings on our cooperation on critical raw materials,” said Kestutis Jankauskas, EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan.

“The most important and vital asset that Kazakhstan has to offer is human capital, the people. And you saw that with the reforms that he talked about in regards to what he is doing to support teachers, to support education, to support healthcare, to support the public private partnership,” said U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta.

“Of course, I was not expecting such a huge announcement of an election so soon. And that’s why I mentioned that it’s very bold. He proposed such a large number of reforms, which we know that take time to implement. But he’s sending a strong sign that the country has to turn the page and advance towards the future,” said Rubem Correa Barbosa, Ambassador of Brazil to Kazakhstan.
