Nur-Sultan to join Earth Hour campaign

As a sign of concern for the planet’s future - on March 27 more than 150 facilities in Nur-Sultan will turn off architectural lighting as part of the Earth Hour grassroots movement for the environment. Akorda Presidential Palace, Baiterek Monument, Kazakh Yeli Monument, Mangilik Yel Triumphal Arch, Hazrat Sultan Mosque, the National Museum of Kazakhstan, the Palace of Independence, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, as well as the Nur Alem Museum of Future Energy will turn off lighting. This Saturday, not only the buildings of the Kazakh capital, but also tens of thousands of the world’s most famous objects will turn off the lights for 60 minutes, including the Eiffel Tower, the Big Ben and the Colosseum. Also, during the Earth Hour, millions of people around the world will not use electricity and electrical appliances. This international event is held annually by the World Wildlife Fund. The main purpose of the campaign is to draw public attention to the responsible and careful attitude towards the planet’s resources and their rational consumption.
