The cultural
heritage of the Korean people, encompassing traditional music, crafts, and art
objects, was showcased at a special exhibition in Astana. The exposition,
titled ‘K-Maestro’, is one of the events dedicated to the year of cultural
exchange between Kazakhstan and South Korea. It was attended by diplomats,
public figures, artistic community, and youth. The guests were presented with a
unique show unveiling the secrets of the traditional Korean craft of decorative
knotting, known as Maedeup. The visitors also enjoyed performances by artists
playing folk musical instruments of the two countries.
“We introduced our
guests to our ancient traditional art, featuring the folk music genre of
Pansori. The Korean folk song Arirang was performed to the accompaniment of
drums. It is well-known that young people in Kazakhstan express great interest
in our culture, especially in modern Korean music and TV series. Today’s event
brought together a lot of young attendees and we wanted to show them the
richness of our cultural heritage,” Koo Bon Chul, Director of the Korean
Cultural Center Kazakhstan, said.
